aptime is an important part of a child’s world. Preschool children 3-5 should be taking regular naps during the day. Sleep is just as important as eating regular scheduled meals. In fact, physical and mental development for growth occurs during naptime. Naptime also keeps children from becoming cranky and frustrated throughout the day.

Naptime also plays an important role in memory, concentration and recall. When children don’t nap regularly, they are prone to poor attention spans during the school day. Sticking to a nap schedule can sometimes be challenging. However, establishing routines and sticking to it will produce good quality naptime and a well-rested child.

Here are a few tips to help transition to happy naptime:

1) Ensure room temperature is comfortable

2) Dim lights

3) Use white noise

4) Read a short story

5) Play soft music

Wouldn’t we all love someone to tell us to take a nap?! As adults, we could benefit from a siesta as well!
