Self-care 101 During COVID-19

uring the past few months the COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all in a variety of ways. Our emotions have taken the brunt of the assault.  You may have experienced sadness, anxiety, fear, anger or even confusion.  While a certain amount of stress is normal, constant stress can affect us physically. Some physical signs may include fatigue, muscle tension, headaches or even sleepless nights. Our daily routines have no doubt changed from what we were accustomed to prior to COVID-19.  Working from home, while convenient in some ways, carries its own stressful consequences.  Amid the pandemic it is important to remember to take care of yourself, so you are equipped to help your family and do your job effectively.  Here are seven tips that can help you care for yourself:ls?

Pray from the moment you wake up and throughout your day.

Fuel your
body with good nutritious foods.

Drink plenty
of water throughout
the day.

Exercise at least
20 minutes a day.

Enjoy fresh air and sunshine during short breaks throughout your day.

Sleep a minimum of seven hours each night if you can.

Practice deep breathing exercises throughout your day.

By the grace of God, we will all get through this pandemic because His grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9). If for some reason you find that you repeatedly feel that you have trouble focusing on your daily routines or feel helpless and are not able to perform your daily functions, call your health care professional to schedule a wellness visit.  Taking these steps to Self-care is the best gift you can give yourself and your family.  Someday we will look back, and fondly remember the blessings of these challenging times, as we realize that God helped us through!
