It’s Just a Bible Class

WINTER ’20

ow is Adventist Education different from regular education?  The question comes up often in our work.  For a society that understands Christianity within the confines of an activity, it comes down to, Bible Class.

But the educational process Ellen G. White described was broader than that, yes we would use the Bible and have Bible classes.  But our focus would be finding the relevance of the Bible in the entirety of our experience. The divine and the mundane moments of our lives and the lives of our students would be used to reveal more of God’s character and plans.  Our religious life would be more than just what we do, it would be who we are.

The work of the Holy Spirit would be acknowledged in every aspect of our students' lives.  The academic day would be interspersed with moments of clarity where the curtain of our reality would pull back and we could see God’s movements outlined in English, geography, history, math, and science.  We were meant to practice and pass along the message of Colossians 3:23, NASB1995,  “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.”

Adventist Education is different because we realize the Bible is more than another subject on the class schedule.
