he day that several have been waiting for has finally arrived. Takoma Academy Preparatory (TA Prep) is not just a thought, a dream or hope but a new school in Takoma Park, Maryland. TA Prep is a the newest SDA K-8 school opening in Potomac Conference…Columbia Union as a result of two schools closing their doors at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. Sligo SDA School and John Nevins Andrews School both closed their doors after 100+ years of providing excellent education. Declining enrollment over the years at both schools deemed this a necessity.

The joining of the two schools has provided an enrollment of 320 students and wait lists for students in middle school wanting to attend. TA Prep offers the following specials for students of grades K-8: Art, Music (Band, Steel Pan, Strings, Chorale), Physical Education, Spanish, Media/Technology. Other staffing includes a Vice Principal, Counselor, Academic Specialist, Educational Assistants, and a Lead Teacher who provides support to novice teachers and serves as a teacher mentor.

TA Prep offers a balanced education that places emphasis on character development so that our students become critical thinkers, achievers, and servant leaders who are prepared for a fulfilling future in high school, college, and beyond.
