I will be using this space to keep you informed of the progress toward Teacher’s Convention in Chicago, August 6-9, 2018. We have finalized the major speakers as follows:

Dr. Larry Blackmer

VICE PRESIDENT, EDUCATION

Larry has served at Grand Ledge Academy in Grand Ledge, Michigan, as both teacher and principal; at Adelphian Academy in Holly, Michigan, as vice principal and boys’ dean; and as principal at Mount Pisgah Academy in North Carolina and Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Maryland. Larry also served for seven years as associate superintendent in the Michigan Conference. He also served as superintendent of schools in the Idaho Conference. Prior to serving as the vice president of education for the NAD, Larry served as associate director of education for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. His duties include secondary education, marketing and technology.

Other major decisions that have been made include the Oakwood Aeolians concert on Tuesday evening and some decisions regarding food options. The union education leadership has visited the facility and has begun making plans for spaces needed for union and conference registration. We will begin to take breakout requests and applications January 1, 2018, so if you would like to hear a presentation on a particular subject, or if you are willing to present a topic, you will need to fill out the online form and submit it. Please do not call or email asking to present, it must all go through the online process. We are looking forward to having each of you worship, learn, and fellowship with us in Chicago!
