he schools in the South Atlantic Conference function within regions with the respective states to bridge the geographic gap and to fully utilize the resources and skills of its faculty and staff within the school system. Region #2 has four small schools with less than 20 students and one school with more than 50 students. This configuration provides a platform for collaboration and collegiality!

This year, Emanuel Junior Academy, Albany, Georgia partnered with New Bethel Christian Junior Academy, Columbus, Georgia, for a social studies field trip: We visited the National Infantry Museum for a tour and an engaging and informative "living museum" experience.

The field experiences presented a comprehensive view of early America as well as an opportunity for 1-2 teacher schools to address content across the grade levels! The tour revealed the physical challenges of war and everyday living conditions while sharing historical context to complement our NAD U.S. History curriculum content. During the "Living History" segment, the docents REMAINED in character as they told stories of the Revolutionary War using an array of artifacts as props throughout the stories. The students were pulled into the performances as participants and were amused by many of the anecdotes in the historical account.

The role of the docents is a significant aspect of this field experience. It provides a creative look at "the historian," one of many topics in the World History unit this cycle; however, the content shared aligned with social studies content in the U. S. History instructional cycle.
